We are committed to our Mission Statement to preserve and promote interest in Georgetown’s heritage – its historic buildings and sites as well as the people associated with them.  We are extremely fortunate that a steadfast community, a supportive City government and a strong membership keep the ideals and realities of preservation alive.

John Steinbeck wrote, ‘how will we know it’s us without our past?’ We contribute to our history on a daily basis. We are mindful that the strides forward, all the progress made, is easily at risk.  We encourage progress balanced with preservation.

GHS looks forward to timely new programs, projects and events to reflect the vitality of historic Georgetown. Preservation cannot succeed without belief. It cannot flourish without participation. We, every generation, every part of the community, must work together – appreciating what has been done and being ever mindful of what lies ahead.
